Help to
reduce
energy costs
Rappahannock County residents with limited income and resources may be eligible for a number of programs to reduce home energy costs and assistance in paying heating bills. The programs are offered by the Rappahannock County Social Services Department and Potomac Edison.
Services offered by the Rappahannock County Social Services include the following:
•Fuel Assistance Program — From Nov. 1, 1985 to March 1,1986, low income households are provided with financial assistance toward their ftiel costs. Payments for preauthorized amounts of fuel are made directly to the vendor.
•Energy Crisis Program — Emergency assistance is provided to assist with the repair or replacement of inoperable or broken heat sources to qualified households. In addition, blankets, warm clothing and space heaters are available through the program.
•Weatherization Program — The Social Services refer households for this service provided through the Area Office on Aging. Weatherization services are provided at no cost to both qualified homeowners and renters. Services may include weather stripping, replacement of broken windows, repair of leaky doors and insulation installation.
