Burford DUI trial set
ARLINGTON — Reagan administration official Robert Burford will go to trial Dec. 17 on drunk driving charges, an Arlington County District Court judge ruled Wednesday.
Mr. Burford, director of the Bureau of Land Management, wasn’t present in the courtroom when Judge Eleanor Dobson set the trial date.
Mr. Burford was arrested Sept. 16 after a state police officer saw his car stopped in the middle of Interstate 395 just outside the nation’s capital.
Mr. Burford was charged with drunk driving, according to Arlington police. His wife, Anne Burford, the former head of the Environmental Protection Agency, was charged with being drunk in public after she allegedly cursed and yelled at authorities at the county jail the night of the arrest, police said.
Mrs. Burford is scheduled to go to trial on Dec. 13.
