All insulation must have a moisture-vapor barrier to protect it from moisture in the home. However, in adding insulation to a place already insulated, you don’t need to put in another barrier.
Insulation works because air spaces in it actually slow down the flow of heat through the insulation. It is im jortant to keep air spaces free from moisture or they cannot do their job.
