makes, apparently complying with the directive, in the supervisors’ resolution that the School Board “amend the salary index so that incomming (sic) teachers will recieve (sic) a salary commensurate to two years experience, until or unless they exceed this in actual experience.”
The bonus will put the beginning salary for 1986-87 more than 10 percent over the current first year teacher’s pay, qualifying the county for an additional $51,000 in “transition” funds from the state.
The total for instructional salaries reflects an increase of approximately 14 percent. The larger figure results from inclusion in the regular school budget of two teachers currently paid with federal Title I funds, according to the superintendent.
Board member Nancy Reeve argued for dropping ' the teacher bonuses and adopting a new pay scale that would raise the starting salary to $15,000 and up wages for teachers with 15 or more years experience.
