ANIMAL CARE SUPERVISOR — SURGICAL

Position #2741 The Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine announces an opening for a Surgical Supervisor, for the Marion duPont Scott Equine Medical Center at Morven Park in Leesburg, Virginia. This University-affiliated teaching Hospital, located 30 miles west of Washington, D.C., employs a staff of 50 professional and paraprofessional personnel with an annual budget of $2.1 million.

DESIRABLE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Supervises the maintenance of a clean environment in operating room and central supply. Supervises the quality of care and aseptic techniques in the operating room and central supply. Responsible for operations of central supplies department:

1. Cleaning and sterilizing of all equipment and supplies;

2. Preparation of all surgical instruments and packs in ' central supply; 3. Critically assesses the quality control of sterilization, instrument care, and patient preparation. Considerable knowledge of nursing theory. Establish and maintain a good working relationship with the clinicians, students, fellow employees, and the public. Coordinates with Clinical Director: methods of teaching special area techniques and use of supplies and equipment. Two years of professional nursing or animal care experience as a team leader or relief charge nurse. Graduate of accredited school of professional nursing or from an accredited veterinary technician training program.
