Many patients now find that most of their visits to hospitals are for outpatient services. At Culpeper Memorial Hospital, same day surgical procedures increased 41% in 1985. Due to the advances In medical technology from fiber optics which permit many procedures to be done with tiny Incisions, gynecologic and orthopedic surgery are the most frequent kinds of outpatient surgery performed here, but urology, ear surgery, and general surgery are common also.
With this trend from Inpatient to outpatient services, CMH expanded and renovated the Same Day Surgery Department. A beautiful room decorated with peach and aqua wallpaper and hanging plants greets patients.
