The Rappahannock County Unit of American Heart Association, Virginia Affiliate, expresses deep thanks to First Baptist Church and pastor, Rev. Wendell Grant, for providing its facilities and participating so freely in the blood pressure screenings and public awareness program on Tuesday, March 18, 1986.
Our thanks to Dr. Jerry Martin and Mrs. Dawn Fisher for sharing their skills, talents and time to conduct blood pressure screenings for our citizens; we also express deep thanks to Ms. Robin Stafford, RD from Richmond, for her informative and educational presentation on preventive health care and the importance of one’s diet in combating all heart related diseases which includes high blood pressure and stroke.
The three most important contributors to heart attack are a high blood cholesterol level, high blood pressure and cigarette smoking. Other important risk factors are diabetes, overweight, lack of exercise and a family history of early heart disease. If you learn to control your risk factors now, you may prevent a heart attack in the future.
Also, our thanks to our president, Mrs. Janet Yancey, the board members and Mrs. Judy Goldman, Field Consultant for the Blue Ridge Area, for all their support in making this an effective community program.
As we reflect upon this contribution of neighbors to our important health care, we are fortunate and grateful to live in a community where we still have so many to share
