Mecie Thornhill
Mecie Mae Thornhill, 82, of Culpeper, died Saturday, March 22, 1986, at Culpeper Memorial Hospital.
A native of Woodville, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Kate Settle Coughlin and the widow of John William Thornhill. She was a retired nurse’s aide at D.C. General Hospital in Washington and was a member of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church in Boston, Va.
She is survived by one sister, Bessie Guinn and two brothers, Oscar and Elmer Coughlin, all of Culpeper.
Additional survivors include a niece, Mildred Peters of Roanoke, and three nephews, Robert Karnes of Springfield, James Karnes of Portsmouth and Paul Karnes of Culpeper.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, March 25, at Geest-Johnson Funeral Home in Culpeper by the Rev. Herbert Browning, interment followed at Fairview Cemetery.
Pallbearers named were Jeffrey Karnes, William Karnes, Stephen Karnes, Robert Karnes, James Karnes, Woodrow Coughlin, Gary Peters and William E. Thornhill.
Edna Jenkins
Edna Blanche Jenkins, 64, of Martinsville, formerly of Somerset, died Saturday, March 22, 1986, at Martinsville Memorial Hospital.
A native of Madison County, she was a retired employee of Doubleday Company in Orange and a member of Blue Run Baptist Church.
She is survived by four sisters.
