‘Sewing for fun’

Sewing for fun sessions will be held May 6, 13, 20 and 27 from 3:30 to 5 p.m. at the Rappahannock Courthouse. The sewing class is designed for persons of all ages with no sewing experience. This is not just for girls and women — the boys and men are welcome also. Topics will include machine operation, basic sewing skills, and pattern layout.

Participants will supply sewing equipment and materials for pro- ! jects. A limited number of machines are available. Those having portables are encouraged to bring them. Pre-register by April 29 by calling the Rappahannock Extension Office at 675-3619.

Virginia Cooperative Extension programs, activities, and employment opportunities are available to all people regardless of race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, handicap, or political affiliation.

Benefits for AmissviUe Fire Department

The annual benefit auction sponsored by the Amissville Volunteer Fire Department will be held on Saturday, April 26 at 6:30 p.m. at the fire hall. For information contact Paul Poling at 937-5205.

Parent/Teacher Association to meet

The RCES Student Parent Teacher Assocation will be meeting on Tuesday, April 1, at 7:30 p.m. in the RCES library. Among the topics on the agenda are baseball field and playground fixup efforts, a movie fundraiser and RCES computer use.

All parents and teachers are welcome. Babysitting is provided for children.

Old Dominion Hunt race

Old Dominion Hunt point-to-point races will be held Saturday, April 5, at the Ben Venue race course, 16 miles west of Warrenton off Rt. 522. Pair race will start at 10 a.m, and the first race at noon. For additional information call 703-327-6731.

Fashion show planned

A fashion show entitled “Tally Ho!” will be presented on Sunday, April 20, at 2 p.m. at the Rappahannock Elementary School.

The show is sponsored by the Rappahannock Woman’s Club. Members of the club are currently seeking patron ads. Proceeds from the show will benefit the Woman’s Club Scholarship and the Rappa* hannock County 4-H Day Camp.
