The regional chapter of the American Red Cross is asking the communities of Rappahannock and Fauquier for $21,897 in the annual fund campaign now under way.
The new goal is a little more than 10 percent above last year’s.
The increase ife attributed mainly to the Red» £ross role in providing disaster relief, according to Mrs. Morris Parris and Col. James White, campaign fund co-chairmen. Part of each chapter’s annual revenue goes to Red Cross national headquarters, and last year was nearly unprecedented in the amount of money spent to aid victims of hurricanes and floods.
Last year contributions to the Fauquier chapter enabled it to provide for first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation training for 560

Hunger project
organized
As one response to domestic and international hunger some concerned individuals in Rappahannock who wanted to do more to connect with the plight of the world’s hungry formed a community garden project two years ago. The produce from the garden is sold locally with all the proceeds forwarded to a relief organization.
