Future Business Leaders of America regional competitions were held at Germanna Community College on March 15.
Rappahannock County High School was represented by Stephanie Oliver-clerk typist, Kim Helmeraccounting I, Irvin Starks-typing, and Rosalind Cook-business English. The participants were volunteers who met specified FBLA requirements.
In addition to the competition, regional officers were elected. Junior Stephanie Oliver, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.. John Oliver of Amissville, was elected regional secretary.
“Mrs. Scott asked me if I’d like to run. When we got there there was one person nominated for each office. I had to give a campaign speech. Then they held the election and then I was installed,” explained Stephanie.
“Before the installation took place, the old secretary from last year talked to me about things she had to do and about things I may have to do this year,” Stephanie continued. “There’s a regional conference this summer. It’s like a workshop that’s going to be at JMU. So I get a chance to go there.”
She added, “Basically, my duties are to take notes at any regional meeting held during the year. ”
Stephanie felt that her regional position will be enjoyable and beneficial.
