Mac Neil/Lehr er
Norma Jean Whorton, a 1981 graduate of Rappahannock High School, has been selected as a news intern for the MacNeil/Lehrer News Hour on PBS.
Ms. Whorton, a senior mass communications/radio/TV major at Eastern New Mexico University in Portales, N.M., was one of only four interns chosen out of a field of over 1,200 applicants. She will work at the Washington, D.C. Bureau out of WETA-Channel 26 in Arlington, Va.
Ms. Whorton’s activities at ENMU include being a staff announcer for KENW-AM and KMTHFM, weekend newscaster for KENW-TV, and a member of the crew for “Creative Living,” a nationally syndicated PBS program. She is also a member of Cardinal Key, an honor society.
She is the daughter of Mrs. Thurman F. Whorton of Flint Hill.
