Nuclear activists’ conference A conference titled “Nuclear Virginia: The Activists’ Perspective” will be held May 3 at the University of Virginia. Sponsored by the Virginia chapter of the Sierra Club, the one-day conference is intended to bring together individuals and organizations working on nuclear issues in Virginia. The morning session will include presentations on the current status of uranium mining, low level waste disposal, high level waste disposal, and the transportation and storage of nuclear waste. The afternoon will be spent in roundtable discussions on topics including the potential role of state government in reducing production of nuclear waste and on the strategies and tactics available to nuclear activists and their organizations.
The conference will establish a statewide network of organizations working on nuclear issues in VirJPnia- The conference will run between 10:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. and will be held in Peabody Hall on the grounds of the University of Virginia.
