Then the group moved, and with that, a new excitement was aroused. The place was Nice, a valley of orange roofs and narrow streets, surrounded by a growth of mountains and cut off on one edge by water bluer than the explorers had ever seen. Cathedrals, churches, castles (chateaux, if you prefer the odd translation), waterfalls and cemeteries were everywhere. Some members of the intrepid band chose their plots, calling them “my spots” and swearing that this is where they might find a permanent residence.
The male contingent (25 percent, again to be precise) of the group found the shore quite attractive, considering that the foreign females chose to leave everything at home, including their modesty.
The excursion ended abruptly with an early morning call to leave the foreign country, leaving the adventurers with memories which will last forever.
