Time for a change
To the editor:
Let’s face it, Rappahannock County, it is time for a new Zoning Ordinance.
We live in a legal world and we need an ordinance that can be interpreted consistently so that people know what they can or cannot do.
A new ordinance has been on the drawing board for quite a while and should by now have the kinks worked out of it so in fairness to citizens of Rappahannock, I implore the Board of Su* w pervisors to go ahead and pass the new ordinance.

Yes, but with dignity
To the editor:
Our zoning ordinances and the process by which they are applied are of the greatest importance; they are our primary hope for protecting the values and beauty of this area — a dream that most of us share whatever our point of view on other subjects.
However, this importance does not excuse the putdowns and belittlings to which people are subjected when they bring their dreams into the process for consideration. This “attack” attitude diminishes the value of the process and offends many who are committed to its importance. As well, it is beneath the mature and intelligent persons on the boards involved and does not reflect the ambiance of which we are so proud here in Rappahannock.
Please, folks, let us pay careful attention to the decisions at hand, but let us also inject the process of review with the dignity and good spirit of which it is worthy.
