Mrs. Helen Sue Marshall, a Sycamore Park kindergarten teacher, will speak on the benefits of a program which focuses on activities that are developmentally appropriate for various age levels at a parent-teacher meeting Nov. 12 at 7 p.m. at CCLC. After a question and answer period, guests will be invited to join their child’s teacher to discuss a typical CCLC day. Volunteers and substitutes will be introduced. All CCLC parents and friends who have questions, concerns or curiosity about the curriculum goals are encouraged to attend. Refreshments will be served.
Pre-schoolers story hour
Beginning Nov. 18 and continuing at 10 a.m. each Wednesday through Dec. 16, the Rappahannock County Library will offer a story hour for pre-schoolers. In addition to stories and crafts, there will be special emphases on Thanksgiving, Christmas and Hanukkah.
All pre-schoolers and their parents or sitters are invited to attend any or all of these programs. Please call the library, 675-3780, or come by for further information and registration.
Adventure Team to meet
The 4-H Rappahannock Adventure Team will meet Nov. 18 from 3:30 to 5 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church. Members and anyone interested in joining the club are invited to attend.
Preparing for childbirth
A five-week refresher course designed for couples who have already experienced birth will begin Friday, Nov. 20, at 7 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, Washington. Topics include review of Lamaze theory, coping with labor, dealing with the unexpected and preparing siblings. The $40 fee covers cost of a manual and the showing of films and slides. Raising Arizona will be playing at the Gay Street Theatre on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 13 and 14. They don’t own a Volvo, but Hi (Nicolas Cage) and Edwina McDonnough (Holly Hunter) want a baby on board. Combining two trends of the ’80s - having babies and taking hostages - Arizona chronicles this childless couple’s deliriously funny drive to join the baby boomlet.
The movie is rated PG-13. Admission is $3 for adults and $2 for children.
