In addition to his work in conservation education, Mr. Clark is a nationally-known environmental advocate. He has been active for more than 10 years in Virginia’s environmental movement. He was a leader in the passage of the 1984 Virginia Wilderness Bill which added nearly 60,000 acres of the state’s national forest lands to the Wilderness Preservation System. He remains active in the issues surrounding the management of national forests.
In 1986, Mr. Clark was appointed by Governor Gerald Baliles to serve on the Council on the Environment, the state’s top environmental policy board. He is the first professional wildlife. As director of the Center, he is responsible for management, fundraising and education programs.
