Students tour

NOVA, GMU

Recently, 33 seniors and two counselors from Rappahannock County High School visited the Manassas campus of the Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA). Students viewed a video production about NOVA, received information about course offerings at the school and were given a tour of the campus.

After leaving the NOVA campus, the group traveled to George Mason University, where they ate lunch in the school’s student dining area. After eating, they had a tour of the campus, conducted by a member of the university’s admissions staff.

The tour was followed by a discussion with the admissions counsellor of the need for students to apply early for college admission, housing alternatives, the decision on a major course of study, SAT scores and their role in the admissions process and numerous other items of interest which were voiced by the students.

The group was accompanied on the college tour by James T. Futrell Jr., the guidance director at RCHS, and guidance aide Diane Pendleton.
