Memorial Day service A non-denominational Memorial Day service will be conducted at noon Monday, May 30, at St. Paul’s Cemetery, Woodville, by the Very Rev. Jennings Hobson III, rector of Trinity Episcopal Church in Washington. The service is conceived as a Memorial Day observance, and also to honor all whose loved ones have passed on. The public is invited to attend.

Honorary Fire Chief The Sperryville Volunteer Fire Department is looking for young women, 12-18 years old, to compete for the title of Honorary Fire Chief. The title will be awarded at the Department’s annual carnival. For more information, contact Joyce Lillard, 987-8952.

Cloverbud camp planned 4-H Camp Cloverbud, to be held Aug. 5-6 at the 4-H Center near Front Royal, is designed to introduce 6, 7 and 8-year-olds who have not been to camp before to the overnight camping experience. The cost is $25. Registration information can be obtained by contacting the Rappahannock Extension Office at 675-3619.

Crafters wanted for festival The Sperryville Fire Department and Sperryville Rescue Squad will hold their first craft festival Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 20 and 21, at the fire house on Rt. 211 W. All crafters are welcome. To reserve booth space, or for more information, call 987-8170. v

Help offered for Ag problems Jack Dunford, Farm Management, Extension Agent, will be in the Rappahannock Extension Office to handle phone calls and visits pertaining to agriculture on Mondays in May and June from 9 a.m. to noon. Any resident with questions or problems pertaining to agriculture should call or stop by the Extension Office on Gay Street in Washington, where Mr. Dunford will be available. He also can make farm visits in the afternoons, if such services are needed. Please come by or give the Extension Office a call at 675-3619.
