Rep. Slaughter noted that 76.8 percent of those who answered the poll indicated that they favor a Constitutional amendment to require the federal government to balance its budget, except during times of war or national emergency. Seventy-one percent of poll respondents support granting the President lineitem veto authority on the budget.
When asked if the U.S. Constitution should be amended to restore voluntary prayer in public schools, 59.7 percent of those w ho responded were in favor of a Constitutional amendment.
