‘Dirty Dancing’
The movie Dirty Dancing will be playing at the Gay Street Theater on Saturday and Sunday, May 28 and 29, at 7:30 each evening. It's the summer of 1962, and Frances “Baby” (Jennifer Grey), an over-protected Jewish girl, teams up with a working-class dance instructor (Patrick Swayze) at a Catskills resort. The sequences in which he teaches the repressed “Baby” how move on the dance floor - a girl’s perfect dream of sexual initiation - are nicely directed by Emile Ardolino. Academy Award winner for Best Original Song - “The Time of My Life.” The move is rated PG-13. Admission is $3 for adults and $2 for children.
Antique show in Middleburg
Northern Virginia and District artists and craftsmen have donated works to be featured in the silent auctions at the fifth annual Heritage Antiques Show and Sale May 28-30 at Emmanuel Episcopal Parish House in Middleburg. Local painters show at Gallery
The public is invited to the opening of an exhibit of watercolors by Lynette Nicholas and Scott Robinson on Sunday, June 5, from 6 until 8 p.m. at Middle Street Gallery in Washington. Lorraine Duisit and Toni Espinola will also be at the opening from 6 to 8 for a record signing and tape presentation of their new release, “Feather River.” The show of Nicholas’ “light transition" landscapes and Robinson’s”^ surreal and fauvist images will be on view through June 26.
