In response to recently surfaced opposition to plans for widening the remaining unimproved four-mile stretch of Rt. 211 between Washington and Sperryville, the Virginia Department of Transportation will hold a public hearing in Rappahannock County on Thursday, July 21.
In addition, plans for the project will be presented and explained at an informational meeting set for the preceding night, Wednesday, July 20.
But in the interim, the department is “continuing to proceed with the plan development of these projects,” noted J, G. Ripley, director of planning and programs at the Richmond headquarters, in a letter April 20 to Stella Cadwalader.
