According to a recent public opinion poll of residents in Virginia’s Seventh Congressional District, the federal budget deficit is the most important issue for Congress to deal with in 1988.
“Over 68 percent of those who answered the question believe that the federal budget deficit is the top priority for Congress,” said Virginia Congressman D. French Slaughter Jr. From his Washington office. Rep. Slaughter noted that he received more than 22,000 responses to his 1988 annual questionnaire.
“Reducing the federal budget deficit is of the utmost importance, and I believe it ought to be the number one priority for the Congress,”
