Nature program
looks at snakes
For many Virginians, snakes are a mysterious animal. On May 28 at 2 p.m. C. M. Crockett Park and the Fauquier County Parks and Recreation Department will be sponsoring the nature program “Sssnakes Alive!”
This free family program will try to lessen the fears and misconceptions people have about Virginia’s snakes. There will be a live snake demonstration with Monty, the park’s pet snake. “Be sure to bring your snake questions to be answered,” Assistant Manager Gary Kwolek said.
Those with a little free time during the Memorial Day weekend, should venture out to Crockett Park Sunday, May 29, at 2 p.m., he added. A living history program entitled Pioneer Schoolin’ is scheduled. This educational program will take participants back to the days of the one-room school house.
In the event of rain, these programs will be cancelled. Crockett Park is seven miles south of Warrenton off Rt. 643 (Meetze Rd.) on Rt. 602. From Culpeper, take Hwy. 28, continue on 28 across Rt. 17 and past Midland until reaching Rt. 643 (Mayhugh’s Comer Store), make a left onto Rt. 602.
