WASHINGTON - The U.S. Congress has approved the Virginia Wilderness Act of 1987 which would designate four new areas totaling 27,687 acres as wilderness lands, said Sen. John Warner (R-VA), cosponsor of the Senate bill along with Virginia’s Junior Senator Paul Trible.

In a procedural move late last Thursday to expedite final passage of the legislation, the Senate approved the House version of the wilderness bill, introduced by Rep. Jim Olin (D-VA-6).
