‘Moonstruck’
The movie Moonstruck will be playing at the Gay Street Theater on Saturday and Sunday, June 4 and 5 at 7:30 p.m. each evening. Winner of 3 Oscars: Best Actress (Cher), Best Supporting Actress (Olympia Dukakis) and Best Original Screenplay (Shanley) - A family of Brooklyn Italians live together grumpily in one house, including a practical-minded widow (Cher), who believes herself unlucky in life, and who fulfills her own belief by agreeing to marry her timid suitor (Danny Aiello). When he leaves town, she falls in love with his tormented and passionate kid brother (Nicolas Cage). Writer John Patrick Shanley and director Norman Jewison have created one of those feel-good movies where everything seems to interlock. The movie is rated PG. Admission is $3 for adults and $2 for children.
Medicinal herb walk
Sunday, June 12 there will be an herb walk from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Jordan River Farm near Huntly. Topics covered will be Doctrine of Signatures* how and when to gather, drying and storage of herbs as well as how to make infusions, salves and tinctures. Only herbs found in the backyard, riverbed, field or roadside will be included. Please wear comfortable shoes and rain gear if appropriate. Bring snacks and bag lunch.
