BLACKSBURG — A conference that is designed to keep rural communities involved in the mainstream of society will be held Thursday, June 9, at Virginia Tech’s Donaldson Brown Center for Continuing Education.
The program is designed to provide rural government and community leaders with information about sources of federal and state funds, interests, and procedures needed for supporting rural community development.
The program will start at 10 a.m., following a 30-minute registration period, with a welcome from Richard E. Sorensen, Dean of Business at Tech, and a keynote address by Mitchell R. Geasler, Tech ViceProvost for Extension
Catherine S. Marschall, District Director of the Small Business Administration (SBA), will address the goals of the conference and will be followed by a look at the planning district commissions by David W. Rundgren, Executive Director of the New River commission, and Wayne G. Strickland, Executive Director of the fifth district commission.
