Results from Cub Scouts Pack 50’s annual Pinewood Derby held at the April meeting were: first place, John Arnold; second place, David Loebs; third place, Anwar Mallory; most original, Justin Deal; most unusual, Billy Dodson.
Many cars were displayed and ran that evening. The boys are looking forward to many summer activities, the first to be the Firemen’s Parade.
The community is grateful to the Scouts and their parents for their recent trash pickup along Route 642 to help beautify Rappahannock County.
Last Friday Lorraine Early, chairman of the Citizens Committee, mailed some 200 letters to concerned citizens advising of plans for participation in the water study program, for which she negotiated a grant from VPI.
It would be helpful for residents participating in the program to know the approximate age and depth of their wells.
The community welcomes Anthony McThenia for the summer. He is a geologist and graduate of Washington and Lee. He will be conducting the random sampling, which will allow for the development of a comprehensive water quality study for the entire community. Participants will receive their permanent record of results in the fall.
