Just back from a tour that began at the Siam Jazz Club in Montego Bay and took them through the Southern and New England states, Tom Espinola and Lorraine Duisit will celebrate the release of their new album, “Feather River,” with a record signing party this Sunday, June 5, from 6-8 p.m. at Middle Street Gallery in Washington.
Although this is the first recording by the two as a duo, fans of traditional acoustic music will know Ms. Duisit from her eight years and three albums with Trapezoid, her solo album, “Hawks and Herons,” and her appearances on albums by Holly Near and John McCutcheon.
Mr. Espinola, who teaches guitar and mandolin at the House of Musical Traditions in Takoma Park, MD, has arranged music for three Trapezoid records as well as for “Hawks and Herons.”
On their new all-acoustic, instrumental release, which features the husband-and-wife duo’s original compositions for harp, mandolin, mandocello, guitar, voice, and hand-percussion, they’re also joined by other old friends from Trapezoid, Ralph Gordon on bass and Bob Read on soprano Sax, flute, and clarinet.
