Bingham said, noting, however, that the extra protection measures will increase solid waste disposal costs.
“Maybe not,” Supervisor Mike Massie replied. “I’ve been thinking along those same lines.” Reduced garbage deposits and the greater capacity afforded by trash compaction may lower hauling costs enough over time to offset the expense of the equipment and personnel, he said.
Mr, Massie listed the four alternatives as: (1) “leave the dumpsters the atrocity they are now,” (2) close the sites and make it necessary for everyone to haul their owm refuse to the new landfill or contract with a private trash collector, (3) open two manned and fenced dumpster sites on a limited basis “which may or may not cost the county more money,”
