Under the grant the community provides room and board for the intern; VPI provides all materials needed for testing. The community is grateful to Hal and Bev Hunter for opening their home to Mr. McThenia. The committee will provide food expenses.
The community is also grateful to Mrs. Early for the many hours she has spent over the last 18 months working diligently to see that the drinking and groundwater of the citizens in Amissville are protected.
The financial statement included with the mailing shows the Committee will have spent $14,000 mainly in attorney and geologist fees to evaluate the new landfill. The water testing will be beneficial for both citizens and the County government as it will provide a permanent record of the water quality prior to the landfill’s becoming operational.
