Mr. Wickens concluded that, basically, “the subdivision ordinance needs to be rewritten.” He suggested that the commissioners try to get ideas from members of the community on what they would like to see the limits be.
Offering an at-large request for community comment, Mr. Wickens added, “the common sense, man-onthe-street opinion is not often heard - but often it makes a lot of sense.” He asked that members of the community with suggestions for revisions to the subdivision ordinance contact a member of the planning commission, or attend the commission’s regular meetings, held on the fourth Tuesday of each month at the Courthouse, beginning at 8 p.m.
Mr. Wickens, Ms. Kramer, Mr. Lynch, Mr. Frizzell, Ms. Parrish, Gloria Robinson and Wallace Critzer make up the seven-member planning commission.
The planners also voted to hold a joint public hearing with the town council on July 13 to consider amendments to the zoning ordinance and historic district ordinance, including administrative approval of .certain paint schemes and combinations. That would allow the zoning administrator to approve such colors rather than require the applicant to appear before the Architectural Review Board, as is now the case.
