Reading program
begins June 22
The Rappahannock County Library’s Summer Reading Program begins on Wednesday, June 22 at the library in Washington. This year, a library spokesman said, the theme is “Reading is My Life,” and will feature the popular cartoon character Garfield.
The program will be held each Wednesday morning through Aug. 3. The spokesman said that the library plans a special closing program on Tuesday, Aug. 9. “Preschool and school-age children are invited to sign up and spend an exciting summer in the Garfield Reading Club.”
Last year, more than 100 youngsters participated in the summer reading program, and the library is hoping for equal or even larger participation this summer.
