Wakefield School in Huntly will hold its ninth graduation and commencement exercises Sunday,-June 19, beginning at 6 p.m. in the school garden.
The ceremonies will begin with a procession of the school’s faculty in full academic dress, followed by the members of the Class of 1988. Wakefield graduates do not wear the traditional cap and gown. Instead, the girls wear formal white dresses, and boys wear white trousers, navy blue blazers and straw boaters.
In addition to the diplomas conferred on the graduating seniors, awards will be presented to students in other grades of the preparatory school for outstanding academic and extracurricular achievement.
The guest speaker for this year’s graduation is Joseph Sobran of New York City and Washington. Mr. Sobran is the senior editor of National Review magazine.
