Two years ago the Rappahannock National Bank’s franchise tax accounted for nearly all of the town’s $13,000 budget. This year, the $11,000 contributed by the bank counts for only 14 percent of the town’s expected income.
The town’s share of state sales tax revenues will bring another estimated $2,000, while water service connections will bring in $2,800. The two categories account for six percent of the total budget.
Another five percent ($4,018) ofthe town’s income comes from a number of state and local sources, including its share of the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board revenues, building permits, fines and interest, and Potomac-Edison’s franchise tax, which the electric utility pays for its service within the town.
