set for Aug. 27
The 1988 Virginia Triathlon will be held Saturday, Aug. 27 at Lees- -
ville Lake in Pittsylvania County^ approximately 35 miles north of\ Danville on Rt. 29. 0
The event, which begins at 9* a.m., consists of a 2K (1.24 mile) swim, 40K (24.8 mile) bike, and a 15K (9.3 mile) run. The swim is a counterclockwise loop; the bike race is a circular course; and the run is out and back. The course is extremely hilly and very challenging. The Virginia Triathlon is one of the toughest on the East Coast for these distances.
The entry fee is $35 for individu- V als and $80 for teams.
The Virginia Triathlon is sanctioned by Triathlon Federation/USA; is a qualifier for the 1988 Ironman Triathlon World Championship; is the Virginia State Championship for Tri-Fed; and is a qualifier for the Tri-Fed/USA National Championship in the International Distance. *
