RICHMOND — Fourteen motorists lost their lives on Virginia’s highways during the July 4th holiday period, according to preliminary statistics released by Colonel R. L. Suthard, Superintendent of the Virginia State Police.
“The loss of life on our highways is always tragic,” said Colonel Suthard, “and it is especially tragic when we learn that only two of the 12 persons killed in passenger vehicles were using their safety belts.
