The Bluemont Concert Series will present an evening with two great blues musicians, John Jackson and Paul Geremia, in concert on Saturday, July 16, on the lawn of Warren Green Hotel in downtown Warrenton. The concert will be held at 7:30 p.m. Requested donation is $2 per person, and the public is welcome.
John Jackson of Fairfax Station, Virginia is acknowledged one of the country’s great rural blues guitar players and singers. A Rappahannock County native, he was raised in the F.T. Valley near Sperryville where he began playing the guitar as soon as he was big enough to hold one. A largely self-taught musician, Mr. Jackson has performed his music at major festivals and concerts all over the United States.
John has traveled around the world twice for the State Department cultural tours, performed at the White House for every administration since the 196’s and recorded five of his own albums. In 1986 he was awarded a prestigious National Heritage Fellowship by the National Endowment for the Arts.
Paul Geremia from Newport, Rhode Island is a virtuoso, hardtraveling, country blues guitar player and singer. Gamble Rogers told a Bluemont Concert spokesman that he thought Paul Geremia was “one of the greatest performers in the country today.”
