school budget. “We’re hot asking for that now. We’ll take a look at where we stand, and if we have additional needs, we’ll come back,” the superintendent said.
The reappropriation will essentially complete the high school expansion project, although at the bottom of the list of capital outlay needs under the heading “for future consideration,” the school board has included $20,000 to $45,0000 for a permanent parking lot between the baseball field and track and $4,000 to $6,000 for air conditioning the teachers’ lounge.
“Is there any thought of air conditioning the new auditorium?” asked County Administrator John McCarthy.
“Not at this point in time,” said Dr. Gangel, but adding air conditioning for that section had been a part of the initial expansion project before shortfalls in funding required reductions in the scope of the work. (Essentially, it is those deletions that are being restored with the reappropriated funds.)
The superintendent reported that the RCHS construction project is running two weeks behind schedule but he assured the supervisors that the county will not incur additional interest penalties on the $1.5 million literary loan awarded for the expansion.
