With little discussion and no argument, the Board of Supervisors last week reappropriated $86,032 remaining in school accounts at the close of the 1987-88 fiscal year, carrying over that amount to 1988-89 to • finish the high school expansion project. Without the board’s action, the $86,032 would have reverted back to the county’s general fund.
The bulk of the money — $73,694 — was unexpended in categories for teachers’ salaries and capital outlay; $1,221 comes from sale of the old gym floor, $1,871 from a school auction, and the rest from various other categories.
“We’re only requesting what was in last year’s budget that we didn’t spend,” explained Superintendent David Gangel.
Along with the revenue request came a detailed account of how the money will be used; at $22,103, auditorium seating tops the list of “capital outlay needs from year-end funds.” According to Dr. Gangel, purchase orders have already been issued for the seating and some of the other 43 items on the list but receipts didn’t arrive in time for payment before the June 30 deadline for expenditure from the 1987-88 budget.
The report submitted by Dr. Gangel shows $8,076 unspent in federal funds which may be carried over without concurrence from the supervisors. In addition, an extra $10,187 is expected to come in from the state in July and August for the 1987-88
