A Conservation Reserve Program sign-up will begin July 18 and extend until Aug. 5. The CRP is an excellent way for a fanner to take “highly erodible land” out of annually tilled crops, a spokesman for the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service said. The farmer must submit a bid to place land in the CRP. -The land presently does not have to be cropped, as long as it was cropped twice from 19811985, the spokesman said.
