Camp has openings
There are still a few openings for the Natural History Day Camp, which will again be held at the Shaw House Cabin at Rock Mills from July 10-21. Scheduled activities will include nature hikes, games, nature drawing and identification, pond and river wading and a lot of fun. Camp director Nancy Hale is especially seeking boys and girls who are rising fourth and fifth graders. The fee is $90, and a health form is required. Hunter education course
The Virginia Game Commission will sponsor a Hunter Education Course on Thursday and Friday, July 13 and 14. The ^ location will be announced later. The course is required of all first-time hunters and all hunters less than 16 years old. For - more information, or to pre-register, call Game Warden Jim Bankston (937-5192).
Immunization reminder -/'• Although the beginning of school seems far away, it's not too early to begin thinking about the necessities, including immunizations for all children who will attend school for the first time in September. By state law all children must be immunized against polio, diphtheria, tetanus and whooping cough before their first birthday. By age two they must have been inoculated against measles, rubella (German measles) and mumps. State law also requires that the parents provide a certificate of immunization before any child may be registered to attend school. The Rappahannock County Health Department will immunize children at no charge. Physical examinations are also available, with the charge levied on a sliding scale based on income. Judge W. Shore Robertson will interview candidates for two vacancies on the Town of Washington's Board of Zoning Appeals at the courthouse at 9 a.m., Thursday, July 6. To qualify, a candidate must be a resident of the Town of Washington. The BZA is charged with review of zoning matters.
