jjer person. All are welcome, i Trapezoid is back with its own Special kind of music. Their innovative approach has spanned more [than 14 years of national and international touring and recording. Trapezoid is now a five member folk .ensemble with an energetic conservatory feel. Throughout the years, ; Trapezoid has created bridges joining the finest in folk traditions with i the pulse of contemporary music.
Their sound blends elements : from such disparate forms as Elizabethan and traditional ballads, 1930’s jazz, American standards and contemporary folk, but they give | them a decidedly original beat and ; take a classical approach.
Trapezoid features Bob Read on flute, clarinet, saxophone and vocals; Tim Valdes on percussion; Paul Reisler, hammer dulcimer and guitar; Anne Louise White, vocalist and pianist, and Cheryl Hurwitz, vocalist and violinist. Together, they tell stories with their music.
Trapezoid will be joined by Julie Portman of The Golden Key. A theater artist, Ms. Portman will use music to bring stories to life. Julie is a dancer, actress, storyteller and ' musician. She combines all these arts when she tells her stories.
Trapezoid will be performing this weekend at local nursing homes and hospitals as part of the Bluemont Concert Series community benefit program. These performances continue throughout the year. For more information contact Peter Dunning at 777-6306.
