The Wilder campaign is planning to contact the Coleman campaign to work out a plan for joint appearances, according to Laura F. Dillard, spokeswoman for the Wilder campaign.
"We’re guilty,” Dennis Peterson, spokesman for the Coleman campaign, responded sarcastically. “We had a scheduling conflict, but that has no relevance to who's going to make a better governor.”
"We do not base our schedule on making Doug Wilder happy,” added Peterson, who said that he had not yet heard from the Wilder campaign to schedule joint appearances.
At present, the two campaigns have scheduled debates for July 15 and July 22.
In response to concerns over negative campaigning, Wilder told the crowd, "You haven’t seen it and you won't see it."
