The Amissville Firemen’s Carnival is in progress through Saturday night. Many more rides have been added to this years' carnival.
The parade is Thursday night and entries will be accepted right up to parade time at 7 p.m. Call Sheila or Sharon at 703-937-4357.
The $1 tickets for the cash drawings to be held Saturday night are being sold by department members and honorary fire chief contestants.
The contestant who has sold the most tickets by 10 p.m. Thursday will be crowned on Friday night as honorary fire chief. Little prince and princess contestants are accepting donations also, and department members will be selling tickets until the drawing on Saturday night.
Regretably, the fireworks display could not be held as planned on Wednesday night due to liabilityproblems.
On Friday night the Amissville Baseball League will have a booth at the carnival grounds to sell baked goods and tickets for a drawing tentatively scheduled for July 23 at the trophy-day picnic.
The prizes to be awarded at the drawing are a Redskins’ autographed football and a Redskins’ jacket donated by Rick Hunt Ford and Rankins’ Sporting Goods.
Proceeds will go to purchase uniforms, equipment and field improvements. It is great to have the various community service organiza
