With an event as large as Washington's Fourth of July celebration. there's bound to be logistical problems. When between 5,000 and 10.000 visitors descend on a town of less than -50 residents, inconveniences are to be expected.
Fortunately, the town’s experience with its annual festival has. in the past, kept problems to a minimum.
Sheriff John Henry Woodward said that, as in past years. Gay St. will be closed to traffic for the entire day from Middle St. (Business 211) to its end beyond Mount Salem Ave.
Mount Salem Ave., from Main St. to its intersection with I’.S. 211, w ill be one-way headed east out of town. Sheriff Woodward requested that Mount Salem Ave. be kept as clear of traffic as possible for the convenience of residents who live along that street.
Parking will be available at the fire department’s pro|>erty at the base of Middle St. just off F.S. 211. There will also be additional parking available for early arrivals along the town's streets, but again Sheriff Woodward requested that visitors respect the areas marked with "No Parking" signs.
