In recent years, CRD has concentrated on community education, community improvement, crime prevention, 4-H, land use and planning, public policy and local government, manpower, recreation and tourism, and rural development.
But one thing hasn’t changed in Virginia Extension - the desire to help Virginians achieve a better quality of rife. And the words that Mr. Dietrick wrote in 1948 are still true. “The Extension Service is the college of the fields.’ Through it the campus of. . . . is extended to every community in the state."
Citizens of the state who are unable to become resident students are thus enabled to benefit from the findings of the Experiment Station and the programs of the College.
