Dog warden seeks

Rappahannock’s rented kennel space is overflowing after the discovery last week of 10 dogs which appear to have been dumped in the Washington area.
Dog Warden Ray Pullen picked up five of the dogs, which were congregated in a group in Tiger Y’alley, on June 19 and 20. The next day he got a call that another four were out of the Fodderstack Road, and a tenth was turned in by a Washington resident.
“We don’t really know what’s happened,” said Trish Drake of the Rappahannock Animal Welfare League. “We have no clues, but it’s certainly unusual to find this many dogs at the same time." She added that none of the dogs were wearing collars or had any identifying markings.
Warden Pullen said it is obvious that the dogs are familiar with each other, and have been together for some time. Most look like pure-bred German Shephards, and are so similar in appearance they could be litter-mates. The others are mixed breed, with at least some Shephard.
Warden Pullen said they appear to be in good shape, with no indications of fleas, ticks or worm infestations.
