BLEWITT Arundel Newspapers State Writer RICHMOND — President George Rush called for party unity as he joined the GOP state ticket under the Stars and Stripes at a fundraising dinner in Richmond last Wednesday. Republican leaders worked to dispell perceptions of party disunity and bitterness just one week after the heated three-way primary that elected former Attorney General J. ‘Marshall Coleman the GOP nominee for governor. The first Republican primary in 40 years has been called he most negative primary in the history of Virginia politics. “Yes, there was , a rough and tumble competition,” admitted President Bush. “But we've proven once again that we are different from the other party. We are united by principal. united by a great cause, and .that is why, now that the dust has 'Settled, we are all still Republicans.” Bush hailed the Republican ticket of Coleman for governor.
