Not a single town resident has yet filed an application for a boundary line adjustment to eliminate lots split by the town/county boundary, according to County Administrator John McCarthy.
The agreement between the town and the county on this one-time offer to move the boundary line, set next Thursday, March 1 as the deadline for surveys and requests for the adjustment to be filed in Mr. McCarthy’s office.
The agreement was reached last December after months of negotiations between the Town Council and the Board of Supervisors through Mr. McCarthy, Town Attorney Frank Reynolds and County Attpmey Peter Luke.
It was sparked by complaints by town resident Claybert Smoot, who alleged that the boundary adjustment made when the town was rechartered in 1984 took a part of his property formerly within the town limits and
